Matthew Arnold's use of Images in " Dover Beach”

In Matthew Arnold's composition " Dover Beach”, Arnold uses imagery to get across the concept that theological and meaning precepts include shaken the faith of men and women in God and faith. Throughout the composition Arnold uses the symbolism techniques including metaphors, similes, hyperboles, and paradoxes to offer sensory impressions and present emotions and moods through verbal photos. The moment Arnold writes, " The ocean of Faith/ Was once, also, at the full, and round earths shore/ Lay like folds the folds of a bright belt furled. ” (lines 21-23) Here this individual compares the " Marine of Faith” which is a metaphor of the hope to water making up a great ocean to a girdle with the use of like this individual produces a simile.
