WOMEN'S MANAGEMENT: USING THE COMPETING VALUES CONSTRUCTION TO EVALUATE THE INTERACTIVE EFFECTS OF GENDER AND PERSONALITY TRAITS ABOUT LEADERSHIP JOBS Alan Belasen SUNY-Empire Condition College Nancy Frank SUNY-Empire State University The Contending Values Framework (CVF) pays to for differentiating leadership tasks (Quinn, 1988), as well as collection these tasks and nature (Belasen & Frank, 2008) into an organizing schema. This paper expands the CVF's energy by suggesting distinctions among men and women, particularly with respect to life changing and transactional leadership. Using LISREL course analysis, results show that being a female manager affected the conscientiousness personality trait, which, in turn, influenced the CVF role strengths of monitor, planner, and developer – 3 roles linked to transactional leadership. Explanations intended for the failure of our studies to support the proposition that girls would display stronger ratings in transformational roles are provided. We conclude the study with a discussion of the Catch-22 ladies face because they try to get beyond the invisible glass barrier and provide implications intended for leadership advancement. Suggestions for foreseeable future research are included.

his paper addresses the interactive associated with gender and personality traits about transformational and transactional command using the Contending Values Structure (CVF). 1st, we review theories and studies in relation to transformational and transactional leadership roles, which includes gender studies that strive to relate the disproportionate representation of women in senior numbers of management for the ‘vision thing' (Ibarra & Obodaru, 2008). Finally we advise a number of details for the findings that, in addition to transformational talents, women perceive themselves as strong in CVF-related transactional roles.
