Barbara Norris facing many issues. The GSU which she lead happens to be short-staffed and perform since she predicted. Her staffs have low morale and low motivation to do their particular daily job. On top of that, there is a cultural issue where confrontation, blaming, and favoritism are typical in her device. She also facing a budget problem where overtime has been eradicated due to price cutting assess implemented around the hospital. The budget cut help to make it difficult to Barbara to allocate an appropriate personnel in case of some personnel take a personal or holiday leave. In many cases, she has to rely on nursing staff from standard float pool area to cover employees on leave, but this kind of often result in negative effect to her personnel dynamics because the substitute rns is not familiar with the GSU. There are three broad trouble Barbara needs to solve: not enough collaboration and teamwork, staff conflict both within her unit or within the clinic, and not enough transparent performance appraisal types of procedures. All of this three issues must be address simultaneously to ensure that the unit perform as Barbara predicted. It is apparent that there is conflict between junior nurses, older nurses, and PCAS's which will lead to unproductive collaboration most notable. Junior healthcare professionals feels like the don't are part of the team and so they don't get great feedback via senior nursing staff. On the other hand, elderly nurses seems that many jr nurses and PCA's will be incompetent and feel stressed to support them. To solve this issues, Barbara need to give new meaning to a clear function among the rns and make sure which the role is usually properly comprehended by every her staff. In redefining the part, she must include advice from her staff to ensure that the position definition fit within her unit. She also need to develop a transparent interaction mechanism to solve any role discrepancy inside her unit.
